Cold and Snowy
The other evening my children and I were in the mall browsing and just enjoying the holiday season. While we were in JCP, I decided to make a payment since I was in the store. We were in line and it was two customers in front of us. The cashier was dealing with them and she looked up and asked me if I was here to pick up an online order in a bit of a snobbish tone. I replied no and continued to wait until she finished helping the customers ahead of me. When it was my turn I told her I was making payments on cards. I don't know if she didn't quite know how to do it or if she was just in a bad mood. She was very stand offish and asked what amount would I be putting in for payment and I told her $30. As she proceeded to take the payment she must have done something wrong because she was rolling her eyes and breathing deep and hitting the keys a little hard. It finally went through and I proceeded to make the next payment. The cashier asked again, what amount would you like to put in? I told her $30 again. In a sharp tone she says swipe your card and I did. I had the money in my hand and extended it to her and she took her time before she snatched the money from my hand and printed out my receipt. So I replied, Oh to be 30 again! Wouldn't it be nice if turning back time was as easy as just saying 30 again? The cashier looked up, smiled and said yes being 30 again would feel really good right about now. I told her well on Christmas morning if you wake up and you're 30 again think of me! She smiled and giggled a little. I wished her happy holidays and walked away. I showed my children that even when people choose to be nasty and rude you can show them how to be, by treating them with kindness in spite of their behavior. The woman may have given me a lemon attitude but I gave her pink lemonade in return. Now she has to think to herself how she was nasty towards me, for no reason at all but I still treated her with kindness.
